Gübra Consumer Consultancy offers Financial Wellness and Literacy independently or as part of Employee Wellness Programmes already in place within organisations.

National Credit Act

The National Credit Act was enacted on 15 March 2006 to comprehensively regulate the credit industry in South Africa.  Its promulgation was the culmination of discussions and research conducted by various entities and government institutions. These indicated that the prevailing legislative environment at that time was incapable of addressing contemporary concerns in the credit market.

The Act repeals and replaces The Usury Act, the Exemption Notice and the Credits Agreements Act.

Debt Counselling

The National Credit Act makes provision for the Debt Counselling Programme to assist over-indebted consumers.  A consumer can seek the assistance of debt counselling on his/her own, or he/she may be referred to a Debt Counsellor by the court, the National Credit Regulator, employer or his/her creditors.  The main purpose of debt counselling is to:
